The short version

Who we are

Crumbtin is made by SYMAR, spol. s r.o., which is responsible for this app ("we", "us"):

If you have any question about privacy, write to privacy@crumbtin.app.

Your recipes and cookbooks

Everything you keep in Crumbtin is stored on your iPhone and synced through your iCloud account. This includes:

Recipes and cookbooks sit in a private CloudKit container in your iCloud account, and favorites in iCloud's key-value storage for Crumbtin. Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy, and we have no access to it.

Settings such as your preferred units stay on your iPhone.

If iCloud is turned off for Crumbtin, your recipes are kept only on your iPhone. The app warns you when that's the case.

Deleting your data

Deleting a recipe or cookbook in the app deletes it from your iCloud as well.

Deleting the app removes the copy on your iPhone, but keeps the iCloud copy so a reinstall brings it back. To erase that copy too, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your iPhone and delete Crumbtin's data.

Shared cookbooks

You can share a cookbook with people you choose, using Apple's standard iCloud sharing.

Importing recipes

From a link

When you share a post or web page to Crumbtin, your iPhone downloads that page directly from the website, such as Instagram, TikTok or a recipe site. As with any visit in a browser, that website receives your IP address and a standard browser request. What it does with them is covered by its own privacy policy.

Crumbtin doesn't sign in to these sites. It doesn't send them anything from your recipes, and nothing passes through us.

From the page, Crumbtin keeps the following in your recipe:

Clipboard

When you start an import, Crumbtin may read your clipboard. It looks for a copied link, or for caption text when a page can't be read. iOS tells you when this happens. The clipboard is read only on your iPhone and is never sent anywhere.

Photos and screenshots

Crumbtin only sees the photos you pick. Text in screenshots is recognised on your iPhone with Apple's built-in text recognition.

Search the web

Some posts only name the dish and keep the recipe elsewhere. For these, Crumbtin can open a Google search in your browser for the dish name and the creator's handle. That search is between you and Google.

AI

Crumbtin reads recipes with Apple Intelligence, using Apple's Foundation Models on your iPhone. That processing happens on the device.

For long or difficult pages, Crumbtin may use Apple's Private Cloud Compute. In that case the text is processed on Apple's servers. According to Apple, it isn't stored there, and neither Apple nor we can access it.

We don't use any other AI service. We don't use your recipes to train any model.

Bug reports and emails

If you tap Report a bug, Crumbtin opens an email to us. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and you can edit or delete anything in it first. The email includes:

We use what you send us, and anything else you email us, only to answer you and fix problems. We delete it when it's no longer needed.

Our email is handled by Resend (Resend, Inc., United States), which receives and stores messages on our behalf. That means your email is processed in the United States.

The legal basis is your request and our legitimate interest in keeping the app working (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).

Purchases

If Crumbtin offers a subscription, it will be sold and managed by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details or your name, only confirmation from Apple that a purchase is active.

What we don't do

Creators and imported content

Crumbtin works like a personal notebook. Each recipe is saved by a person, one at a time, for their own use or for people they choose to share a cookbook with. We don't publish imported recipes anywhere.

Saved recipes keep the creator's name and a link back to the original. Creators' handles stay in the saving person's own iCloud; we never receive them.

If you're a creator and have a concern, write to privacy@crumbtin.app.

Children

Crumbtin isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone. It collects no data at all.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to how it's used.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. In the Czech Republic, that's the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ).

This website

crumbtin.app doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking, and it loads nothing from other companies.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and standard request details to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks. We don't use this to identify you.

Changes

If Crumbtin starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
